Dennis Hummer
Elder

Dennis is an elder at Grace Church and has attended the church since 1970 when meetings were being held at the Recreation Center. He was not saved at the time and remembers Pastor Young speaking as a candidate.

In 1974 when Pastor Jim Snavely visited his home to pray with his mom who was ill with cancer, Dennis prayed with Pastor Snavely and accepted Christ as his Savior. God had already been working in his heart and he began attending the church regularly at that time.

Dennis graduated from Manheim Central High School and attended Lancaster Bible College Evening Institute.

He is married to Gini who works in the family business office, teaches in the 4’s and 5’s classes at Grace Church, teaches weekly Religious Education classes at Manheim Central and is the current president of a young farm women’s group in Lancaster County. Dennis and Gini have three children, Joshua, Kristen and Ryan.

Favorite Bible verses of Dennis are 2 Chronicles 7:14, “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land”, and John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Dennis’ hobbies and interests are teaching ABF, vacationing with family, hunting and enjoying wildlife and the outdoors, serving in the church as God leads, collecting antiques and enjoying self-employment.

Dennis is grateful to God for doing great things in his life; protecting him when it was needed; providing hedges when he was weak or vulnerable; using men to help shape and mold him; giving him a wife to love and be loved by and three children to rear in the training and instruction of the Lord.
